Here are the top 3 stories today in Huntington:

  1. More than 60 Harborfields musicians selected for All-County. More than 60 student-musicians from the Harborfields Central School District are set to participate in All-County, the Suffolk County Music Educators' Association announced. The students span from grade 5 to 10 in the school district. "These high numbers demonstrate that, despite the extreme difficulties surrounding all of last year, including virtual NYSSMA adjudications which were used as the chief criteria for selection, our students never stopped putting forth tremendous effort in their musical pursuits," said Dan Bilawsky, the district's K-12 music department coordinator, via release (Huntington Patch)
  2. More companies warned on Covid-19 test turnaround times. The Omicron variant has ripped through society at unprecedented levels. This has been a tremendous strain on the local workforce, and testing delays are only making things worse. New York Attorney General Letitia James issued warning letters to EZ Test NY (a Brooklyn-based collection center) and Keep Health Safe (a Fort Lee, New Jersey-based collection center) —saying they have not met promised turnaround times. She said, "Across the city, labs and collection centers continue to make false promises about turnaround times for COVID-19 test results when there is no way for them to actually fulfill those promises". Let's hope things get better soon and we can get to the endemic phase! (http://www.huntingtonNow.com)
  3. Man robs East Northport bank. There has been a string of bank robberies in the area recently, with a man robbing an East Northport bank on Monday. This is the third local bank robbery in the past two weeks. A man entered Citibank, located at 710 Larkfield Road, and allegedly handed an employee a note threatening violence and demanding money at approximately 3:45 p.m. The teller complied and the man fled on foot. The man is white and was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt under a dark colored jacket. He was also wearing a Covid facemask. If you have any information, please call Crimestoppers at 1-800-221-TIPS.
