- Pete's Famous Cheesesteaks opens in Huntington, pays tribute to NYPD cop. Another food establishment has opened in Huntington, Pete's Famous Cheesesteaks. Kenny Thompson is continuing in his family's footsteps as his great grandfather Pete opened a hot dog truck at exit 56 off the Long Island Expressway after retiring from the NYPD. He then started cooking Philly cheesesteaks, which quickly became a fan favorite, and now a family tradition. Kenny and his father spent a lot of time learning cheesesteaks in Philadelphia, and the menu has a wide variety of choices for patrons. Check them out at 339 New York Ave. (Greater Long Island)
- Ivy is Huntington's trendy new Italian restaurant. Have you checked out the The Ivy yet in Huntington Village? The trendy new Italian spot is the talk of the town as it offers a diverse menu along with a nightlife experience on the weekends. Owner Zack Barrotta said, “We wanted to open up and do one thing at a time, start with dinner, then add brunch,” he said. “We’ll add live music, we’re gonna add entertainment. We want to do happy hour. We have a great patio that we’ll be able to open up, so I’m excited for that for springtime.” Let us know your experience if you've been there! (Greater Long Island)
