  3. Long Island schools will have extra patrols by police through the end of the school year. "The Suffolk County Police Department offers its deepest condolences to the Robb Elementary School community, as well as the law enforcement officers who responded to the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas," Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney K. Harrison stated. "This tragic act of violence against children and school staff inside what should be a safe haven is unfathomable and a parent's worst nightmare. While there are currently no credible threats in Suffolk County, the department is monitoring the ongoing investigation and will be increasing patrols around school buildings out of an abundance of caution." Gov. Kathy Hochul announced shortly after this statement that the patrols would continue through the year. (Huntington Patch)
  4. Police looking for man in connection with May 17 Commack robbery. The man approached another man in a parking lot at 354 Veterans Memorial Highway at 1:55 p.m., pushing him over and stealing his briefcase. Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-221-TIPS. (Patch)
