  1. Northport author up for award in Kids' Book Choice Awards. Jerry Mikorenda’s novel, "The Whaler’s Daughter", is a nominee in the Favorite Character Crush category. He is also a candidate for Best Stellar Storyteller, and you can vote until August 20. “It’s an honor just to be considered with all these great authors and I’m particularly happy to see the character of Figgie recognized,” Mikorenda said. “He’s just about the coolest indigenous dude you ever want to meet, and the best friend ever to have on an adventure.” (Huntington Now)
  2. News 12 Paws& Pals series highlights dogs up for adoption at Little Shelter Animal Rescue. Take a look at the video of these four adorable dogs that you can take home today.
