🌱 Huntington Daily: Multiple Burglaries + 7 Marathons in 7 Days

  1. LI woman to run marathon for 7 straight days for veterans. Eva Casale will start her daily 26.2-mile journey to raise funds and awareness for veterans at Veteran's Plaza in Huntington. "This special running tour of over 184 miles enables me to utilize my passion for running to bring Long Islanders together to support programs and services for veterans and to acknowledge and raise awareness for how much 'Every Veteran is Appreciated,'" Casale said via news release. "We are especially excited that our journey will conclude in time to kick-off National Military Appreciation Month in May to further support the mission of honoring and acknowledging those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our country and to ensure that we never forget."   2. Two Huntington Station homes burglarized in a span of hours. A West 22nd Street and Oakwood Road home were broken into at 10:30 p.m. Saturday and 5 a.m. Sunday. In the first burglary, the thief displayed a gun and stole jewelry and money. In the second burglary on Oakwood Road, the suspect was confronted by the homeowner and fled. Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-221-TIPS. (Huntington Patch)
  3. Bliss Pastries in Dix Hills voted Best Gluten-Free Menu on Long Island. The bakery won the selection by Bethpage Best of Long Island 2022. "I named my company Bliss Pastries LLC because when people who avoid gluten can eat something without gluten but that tastes and looks just as good, the look on their face says it all; it's pure bliss," owner Stacey Malinow said on Yelp.   4. Huntington Police Blotter: Huntington residents scammed. "April 15: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Bowden Drive in South Huntington at 5:03 p.m. Someone was trying to delete a family member's Facebook account, police said. When they thought they were calling a Facebook help desk line, they were told they needed to pay to have the account removed from the site, police said.
