Here are the top 3 stories today in Huntington:

  1. New York State sees a 7.6 percent decline in the workforce. New York had the third highest decline in the workforce in the country between 2017 and 2021. Only Hawaii and Washington had higher rates of decline. All industries were taken into account. The decline most likely has to do with the number of residents who have left the state in the last few years. (Patch)
  2. Dr. Attilio Pensavalle is a physical therapist by day, Halesite fireman by night. Check out this interview that Patch did with Pensavalle about his journey to becoming a Halesite firefighter. He joined in May 2020 when his office was experiencing a COVID-19 related shutdown and hasn't looked back. Click the link for the full interview! (Huntington Patch)
  3. Harborfields diver Alex Zhang takes 5th at state competition. Zhang, a senior, took home fifth place in the tournament held at Ithaca College on March 4 and 5. Zhang is an All-American diver and set to attend the U.S Military Academy at West Point in the fall. "Alex has had an incredible career and we are so proud of all of his accomplishments," said Robert Franco, the district's director of health, physical education and athletics. (Huntington Patch)
