- Police are looking for man who hit and robbed a woman in February. A man approached the woman on Feb. 15 in the Commack Michael's parking lot. He then proceeded to strike her in the head while she was putting her child in the car and showed what appeared to be a gun while ordering her into the backseat. He demanded her keys and took her cell phone, but she was able to hit the panic button on her key fab which caused the man to flee. Police are asking anyone with information to call Suffolk County Crimestoppers at 1-800-221-TIPS. (Patch)
- Town Of Huntington receives Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for tenth year in a row. The award is the highest recognition in the form of governmental budgeting and is an important achievement for the Town of Huntington. "I'm proud to have voted on the current year's budget that earned this prestigious recognition from the Government Finance Officers Association," said Supervisor Ed Smyth. "We appreciate the recognition, and we plan to continue the tradition of balanced budgets and conservative fiscal stewardship of taxpayer dollars." (Press Release Desk)
- ICYMI: Huntington police blotter released for March 27 to April 2. Check out arrests made in the area from the last week. "Shangel Bradshaw, 24, who is homeless, stole a 2016 Toyota from Elm Street in Huntington on March 30, police said. He was arrested and charged with third-degree grand larceny and DWAI: combined drugs/alcohol on March 30." You can see other arrests by clicking the link. (Huntington Patch)
- Town of Huntington earns Bronze-Certified Status as a New York State Climate Smart Community. Huntington is only the fourth town on Long Island to receive the recognition. “Earning this recognition as a Climate Smart Community underscores the Town of Huntington’s decades-long commitment to our environment,” said Town of Huntington Supervisor Ed Smyth .“We are proud of the climate action prioritized and undertaken under the guidance of our Advisory Committee on Energy Efficiency, Renewables & Sustainability and our recently retired Chief Sustainability Officer Terese Kinsley, who were responsible for all of the heavy lifting it took for the Town to achieve this honor.” (Facebook)
