- ICYMI: Bald Eagles' group says housing project dangers Eagle's nest. The Huntington Zoning Board of Appeals will be taking up a request next week that has residents on edge of the impact on the Eagles nesting in Centerport. The nest is located at Mill Pond right across from 25A and Alec Court, where two new houses will be built. "It would also be at eye level with their nest, obstructing their views. Deforestation in the area of the Eagles nest is also part of the construction plan," the residents say in a petition on Change. org. "Eagles choose their nesting location very carefully. There must be adequate food sources and unobstructed views. If the habitat is disturbed, they will abandon the nest." (Huntington Now)
- St. John's Lacrosse player from Melville convicted of stabbing teammate in 2019. Matthew Stockfeder, 23, was convicted of first-degree assault and faces up to 25 years in prison. Stockfeder got in an argument in which he pulled out a knife and stabbed Justin Corpolongo. Queens DA Katz said, Katz said, “The victim in this case was nearly eviscerated by the defendant after an argument escalated to a physical altercation. As others broke up the fight, the defendant pulled out a kitchen knife and plunged it twice into his teammate’s abdomen. After listening to the evidence, a jury rendered a guilty verdict.” Sentencing is April 7. (Huntington Now)
