Huntington Public Library Station Branch Celebrates New Home
The 14,000-square-foot building will serve as the library's permanent home. Supervisor Ed Smyth presented a citation to the library.

HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — The Huntington Public Library Station Branch has found its permanent home.
The library acquired the two-story, 14,000-square-foot building at 1335 New York Ave., Huntington Station, on Dec. 16, according to Huntington Library Director Joanne Adam. The library had leased the first floor of the building since 1998 and began leasing the second floor in 2018.
"We are very excited to take ownership of the building," Adam stated via news release. "Before moving here in 1998, the Huntington Public Library Station Branch had occupied a storefront next door on New York Avenue. We’ve come a long way since then and today we can proudly call ourselves a permanent resource to the more than 5,600-library card-carrying patrons that call the Station Library home."

Each floor of the library is roughly 7,000 square feet. The first floor hosts a computer lab, teen room, and all the library’s materials, with the second floor currently hosting five meeting rooms, a children’s program room, and a large community room.
The spot along Route 110, which is serviced by a bus route and has a parking lot, makes the library more accessible for all patrons to access the many classes and programs the Station Branch offers for all ages. This includes ESL classes, computer classes, BOCES classes, and soon, passport services, along with many children’s and teen programs.
"I am extremely pleased that the Huntington Public Library has made this investment in Huntington Station's future, cementing the Station Branch as a permanent home for the various programs and services they have been offering our residents for almost a century," Town of Huntington Supervisor Edmund J. Smyth stated. "This is great news not just for the immediate Huntington Station community and current library patrons but for all residents of the Town of Huntington."
