Man Asks 4-Year-Old Girl To Leave Suffolk Library With Him: SCPD

HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — A man was arrested after approaching a girl at a library in Huntington Station Monday, the Suffolk County Police Department said. Jose Aparicio, who's homeless, gave the 4-year-old girl a stuffed animal, asked her to come with him, and touched her hair at the Huntington Public Library (Station Branch) around 3:15 p.m., police said. He left after the girl's mother confronted him, police said.

Police investigated and arrested Aparicio on Tuesday near the library around 11 a.m. Aparicio was charged with endangering the welfare of a child. He was scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.

Police asked anyone who believes they could be a victim to call the Second Precinct Crime Section at 631-854-8226.
