- Cinema Arts schedule for October released. Rocky Horror and kids films are all on the schedule and there will be film and discussion programs along with celebrity appearances. Click the link to see the full schedule. (Huntington Now)
- The town of Huntington will host its first Wellness Walk for Recovery. The town and its Opioid Task Force will host the walk on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Heckscher Park. The walk is for National Recovery Month, which began in 1989 to destigmatize the disease of addiction and to promote evidence-based treatment. (Huntington Patch)
- Four Northport HS seniors were named National Merit Semifinalists. Nicholas Crafa, Joshua D’Souza, John Dwyer and Zoe Meadows earned this recognition following their scores on the 2021 preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. “Each year, I am incredibly proud to see our students receive this recognition,” Northport High School Principal Rob Dennis said via a news release. “Not only does this speak to the students’ academic accomplishments, but to their hard work and commitment to being active members of our school community.”(Patch)
- Suffolk Police are looking for man who had a firearm Wednesday when officers approached two men on Tower Street in Huntington Station. One man appeared to have a firearm and ran away from the officers through backyards. Police were not able to catch him. He was last seen on Third Avenue by West Fourth Street at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
