HUNTINGTON, NY — Rep. Tom Suozzi appeared on the popular political talk show the Morning Joe to discuss his recent trip to the immigration detention camps in McAllen and Brownsville, Texas.

Suozzi, who represents Huntington along with the third district of New York, was introduced as the vice chair of the congressional problem solver caucus, which is a bi-partisan group in the U.S. House of Representatives tasked with cooperating on key policy issues.

Suozzi was quick to push back against Vice President Pence's recent comments that "every American would be proud of the way these kids were being treated."

"I'm not proud of it at all. I remember walking in to this holding area and we're behind a cinder block wall and I could hear kids voices, and I could hear children cry and I hear the coughing...it's un-American, no American would stand for this," said Suozzi.

Suozzi followed up his condemnation of the immigrant detention camps with a mention that while he might "not agree with all the politics of the squad," that today he would be proud to be an honorary member of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's group looking to put an end to the immigration camps.
