  1. South Huntington students' ornaments hung on Washington, D. C.’s National Christmas Tree. The third grader's ornaments from Maplewood Intermediate School were chosen to represent New York in the America Celebrates ornaments program. "They were chosen out of the more than 4,400 schools in New York," Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone wrote on Facebook. "Their ornaments will adorn 58 smaller trees that surround the National Christmas Tree on the White House grounds."(Huntington Patch)
  2. Harborfields band teacher Dan Bilawsky wins NYSSMA Music Educator Innovation Award. The award recognizes new and creative approaches to music education. He was presented the award by NYSSMA Immediate Past President David Brown and retired Harborfields School District Music Director and NYSSMA School Music News Editor Tom Gellert.(Huntington Patch)
