Here are the top four stories today in Huntington:
- Sweetgreen salad chain is heading to the Walt Whitman Mall. The fast and casual salad chain offers healthy eats and many popular bowls. It has over 160 locations right now and plans on having 1,000 by 2030. There is no exact date on when Sweetgreen will open. (LongIsland.com)
- Suffolk communities will get ShotSpotter. The technology allows law enforcement to track where guns have been fired in real time. The eleven communities getting the technology in Suffolk account for more than 50% of gun violence in the county. Huntington Station is one of those communities and will receive the technology. "Suffolk is comprised of 2,373 square miles and 22 of those square miles, or less than one percent, are subjected to over 50 percent of the county's gun violence," Suffolk DA Ray Tierney said. - Road closures begin on Long Island Expressway in the Town of Huntington. The westbound lanes between Exit 48 and Exit 51 will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. The closure is due to repaving and traffic will be directed to the service road. Expect heavy delays and try to plan an alternate route. (Huntington Patch)
