Woman Fatally Struck By SUV In Huntington Station

A woman was fatally struck by an SUV while attempting to cross the street in Huntington Station on Monday night, police say.

According to authorities, Margaret Smith, 60, of Huntington Station, was crossing New York Avenue at the intersection of Railroad Street when she was struck by a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban at 10 p.m.

Smith was transported to Huntington Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the SUV, a 46-year-old man from Queens, was not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
