Christmas Eve Rain Poised to Cause Travel Troubles
Rain is also in forecast Tuesday as millions get set to hit the road.

The good news: no snow.
The bad news: a lot of rain and at the worst possible time.
A cold front will bring moderate to heavy rain to Long Island and a large swath of the East Coast on Christmas Eve as millions hop in cars, planes and trains for the holiday.

“For many people traveling by ground and air, rain will be an inconvenience,” according to AccuWeather.com. “However, enough rain can fall at times to cause poor visibility, while roads are jammed with vehicles. Excess water on the roads will reduce the braking action and increase the distance required between vehicles in an emergency situation.”

- Tuesday- Rain. Patchy fog before 3pm. High near 51. East wind 6 to 11 mph becoming light and variable in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
- Tuesday Night- Rain likely, mainly after 3am. Patchy fog after 9pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 46. Calm wind becoming east around 6 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
- Wednesday- Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. High near 57. South wind 6 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
- Wednesday Night- Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. Steady temperature around 57. South wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
- Christmas Day- A chance of rain before noon. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a temperature falling to around 44 by 4pm. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
