Suffolk County Answers Buffalo's Request for Aid
Convoy Heading North to Help City Hit by Snowstorm

(Commack, NY-November 20, 2014) Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone was joined by FRES and DPW personnel to send off a convoy of equipment and personnel to assist the City of Buffalo with snow removal.
“The snow accumulations experienced by the City of Buffalo are unprecedented and we must do all we can to assist our fellow New Yorkers,” stated County Executive Bellone. “Since 2012, Suffolk County has experienced brush fires, Superstorm Sandy, Blizzard Nemo and historic rainfall and flooding. Each time we needed assistance, municipalities from near and far provided their support. We now have the opportunity to help others.”
Yesterday, Suffolk County received a request for assistance from the New York State Office of Emergency Management Office asking if Suffolk County could provide equipment and personnel to assist with Buffalo’s recovery efforts. Suffolk County Fire Rescue and Emergency Services Department along with the Suffolk County Department of DPW coordinatED the deployment of resources to the Buffalo area.

During normal mutual aid deployments services are usually needed for a three to five day period.
“I thank the Suffolk County employees who volunteered to provide their service to the City of Buffalo,” said County Executive Bellone. “I wish you well and thank you for going above and beyond to help fellow New Yorkers.”
