Mamaroneck Crushes North Rockland 9-4 in Boys Lacrosse
Freshman Peter Conley scores five goals on five shots.

After a sluggish start, the Mamaroneck Tigers boys lacrosse team got ira juices flowing and turned things around in a hurry on the road against the North Rockland Red Raiders on Sunday.
Mamaroneck outscored North Rockland 9-2 over the final three quarters, en route to a 9-4 victory at North Rockland High School.
The Red Raiders were able to keep the Tigers out of the net completely in the first quarter and put in a couple of goals to take the early 2-0 lead. In the next 36 minutes, freshman Peter Conley demonstrated his excellent offensive abilities by converting all five of his shot opportunities into goals despite the beaming sun and physical play.

"I didn't know until after the game when they told me I was a perfect 5-for-5 on my shots, so that was news to me," Conley said. "At the beginning of the game we got off to a slow start, but as the game went on we were able to pick it up and I was able to do some dodging and take advantage of a few open looks."
Conley's teammate, Alex Liebert, also had a strong performance as he mustered up five total points with three goals and two assists. The tandem tallied all but one goal and really fueled the Tigers' offensive attack.

Defensively, Mamaroneck was the aggressor, and more often than not, they were often first to loose balls and they did a great job of limiting the Red Raiders' opportunities. Goalie Jake Danehy also made some key stops in goal as he finished the day with five saves.
Mamaroneck's depth proved to be a huge advantage, especially on a day where temperatures approached 90 degrees. The Tigers have a 30-man roster, so they have the luxury of constantly throwing fresh legs and constantly being able to apply nonstop pressure. That was especially advantageous against an opponent that only had 14 players.
"We came out pretty flat and I think that was in part due to such a big week. We had a game Wednesday and Thursday and then today and I had guys with SATs and other exams," Mamaroneck coach Jeff Barnard said. "It is nice to have the ability to put a first, second, and third line out there and keep rotating. You have to give North Rockland credit though, they played very well."
