Mamaroneck Tigers Summer Travel Baseball Team Wins Championship Tournament

The Mamaroneck Tigers scored big at the Northeast Baseball Alliance (NEBA)—16U CT Bombers Invitational. The team will play at the ECTB Tournament in PA on August 5.

The Mamaroneck Tigers 16U Summer Travel Baseball Team competed on the weekend of July 15 in a three-day tournament hosted by NEBA and the CT Bombers at historic Yale University and New Haven University in New Haven, Connecticut.

The tournament was comprised of 18 teams, separated into three pools, from the New England and the Tri-State Areas.  The Tigers won four out of five games in its pool to advance, and then prevailed in its semi-final and championship games as follows:

Tigers 9 – CT Bombers 1 (semi-final)

Tigers 6 – NY Gothams 1 (championship)

During the tournament, the Tigers had especially strong pitching performances from Stephen Dougherty, Will Hoffman, Alex Sposito, and Michael Williams.  Strong pitching coupled with excellent defensive plays, timely hitting, and great teamwork resulted in the championship outcome.

The Mamaroneck, NY Tigers Baseball Team is comprised primarily of 16U players residing in Mamaroneck, NY that attend Mamaroneck High School (MHS) and play in its Varsity and Junior Varsity Programs.  The Team acts as a “feeder” for the MHS Team—winner of back-to-back New York State Titles in 2008 and 2009.

The Team is coached by Joseph Glaser, MHS assistant varsity baseball coach. With more than ten years of coaching experience and instructing in highly competitive baseball leagues, he has been instrumental in developing a winning baseball program at MHS.

Players on the 16U Mamaroneck Tigers Team include:  Richard Barella, Ted Bellis, Connor Bingham, Stephen Dougherty, Brandon Fitzgerald, Ross Haber, Matthew Henry, Will Hofmann, Justin Lai, Matthew Marino, William McDermott, Gerry McMullin, Ryan Orgielewicz, Brett Poniros, Vinny Salanitro, Alex Sposito, and Michael Williams.
