Vinyl Records are not dead!
Local musician Bob Koenig, known in Levittown for the Levittown CD, "Abbey Lane," will discuss music for Levittown Patch.
Turns out the vinyl record is not dead, just staying in certain marketplaces. Stores throughout the world sponsored "Record Store Day" on April 16.Various record companies put out special releases just for this event. While some special CD's were issued for the event, mostly vinyl records, from 33 1.3 LP's to 45's. One special release from Capitol Records, was a 10" 78 RPM of the Beach Boys "Good Vibrations" backed with "Heroes and Villains" and this was basically gone within a couple hours after the stores opened. Also on vinyl that day was a Foo Fighters LP including 12 covers songs! A rare Nirvana EP and a Rolling Stones45 with a picture sleeve are just a sample of what was produced for the event.
