Early lead gives Division Dragons Varsity easy victory over Valley Stream South

Division Dragons Varsity shut the door early on Valley Steam South, capturing a victory on Tuesday at Doug Robins Field to improve their league record to 8-0. Ten runs in the first three innings allowed Division Dragons Varsity to put the game away early. A three-run home run by Anthony Papa and an RBI single by Nick Boldi during the first inning. An RBI double by Mark Martinez and a two-run single by Joe Spitaleri in the second inning fueled Division Dragons Varsity's offense early. Papa racked up five RBIs on two hits for Division Dragons Varsity. Martinez kept contact to a minimum, striking out 12 Valley Stream South batters. Martinez allowed two earned runs on five hits and no walks over 6 innings. Division Dragons Varsity got three-run rallies in the third inning and the sixth. In the third, Division Dragons Varsity scored on a two-run single by Papa, scoring Justin Wertz and Joe Piscitelli. Division Dragons Varsity quickly matched Valley Stream South's strong inning with a seven-run inning of its own in the fifth. Division Dragons Varsity scored on an RBI single by Tom Deegan, an error, an RBI single by James Curti, a two-run double by Kenny Richards, an RBI single by Spitaleri, and an RBI single by Aaron Gerner. Division Dragons Varsity begins their conference 3 game matchups against Southside next week.
