Suspicious Fire Lights Up Levittown Construction Site
A contents-only fire in a church construction site was quickly extinguished; police suspect that the fire was set intentionally.
The Nassau County Police Department Arson Bomb Squad is investigating a suspicious, contents-only fire at a construction site in Levittown that was tackled by the East Meadow Fire Department and quickly put out.
The fire, which broke out at 4:25 a.m., was set inside the St. Thomas Malankara Orthodox Catholic Church, which is currently under construction. The church is located at 100 Schoolhouse Road.
According to police, the church itself, which currently has only shell and concrete work completed, suffered minor damage. Several cardboard boxes on the site, as well as wood crates contaning elevator materials, were also set on fire.
