Lady Bulldogs JV Softball Defeats Central Islip
The Lindenhurst JV Girls Softball team score victory over CI in dramatic 13-12 finish.
The Lindenhurst Junior Varsity Girls Softball team recently defeated Central Islip with a score of 13-12, after exchanging the lead several times.
With the score tied at 12 going into the bottom of the seventh inning on May 5, Erin Woodworth singled to start the inning and immediately stole second base. Lindy pitcher/slugger Dana Walsh faked a bunt, and on a passed ball Woodworth reached third base.
On the very next pitch Walsh hit a line drive double to center field, scoring the winning run to a loud chorus of cheers from fans and teammates.

The game began with the Lady Bulldogs taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning, then scoring 2 more runs in the second on Kelly Langone’s two-run home run to deep right field.
However, Central Islip battled back to keep the game close. CI closed to within 1 run in the top of the fifth inning, and came back to go up one run in the sixth as a result of several walks and Lindy errors, but Lindy was able to tie it up in the bottom of the sixth.

Solid defense by the infield kept the game tied allowing for the line drive double that scored the winning run in the seventh.
The JV Softball team will be away at Connetquot at home May 9, and take on Bay Shore at home on May 10.
