Zwanger-Pesiri Brings Radiology Services into 21st Century
Multi-million dollar MRI investments, along with and new decor and design, translate into better a patient experience at the firm's Lindenhurst location.
Lindenhurst’s own Zwanger-Pesiri Radiology offices - located next to at 150 East Sunrise Highway - is kicking off the new year with a new look that features significant investment in "patient-friendly" design and "next-generation" MRI imaging equipment.
The office is located in the lower level of the building that houses the radiology firm's headquarters and plays host to various other medical professionals.
Its recently completed refurb, according to Zwanger-Pesiri officials, was designed to facilitate better patient flow through a "tastefully" designed series of rooms - something which is helping to give patients a warmer, less clinical and more positive experience.

"We’ve made it patient-centric,“ said Zwanger-Pesiri CEO Dr. Steven L. Mendelsohn. “Before, there was a typical patient flow - a main waiting room, and people were called into an exam room. Now there are sub-waiting areas."
The effect, noted Dr. Mendelsohn, is that it gives the patient an understanding that they’re moving along.

Dr Mendelsohn, a Pittsburgh native who married a local woman from Massapequa, has gathered around him a staff which is dedicated to bringing an exceptionally welcoming face to a radiology office that services a community he praises as being "diverse, caring and down-to-earth."
From the main waiting area to sub-waiting areas, and from dressing rooms to bathrooms, Zwanger-Pesiri’s offices are tastefully decorated with cherry wood veneer, subdued lighting and artfully chosen fixtures and wall hangings.
The office is carefully dsigned to improve patient flow, through one or another of the office's modalities - i.e., mammography, X-ray, CAT scan and MRI.
Zwanger-Pesiri is also seeking to minimize waiting time, and get patients their results as soon as possible.
“Many times, within an hour - but almost always the same day,” noted the radiology firm's CEO.
One instrument helping to do that - and recently added to the office during the renovation - is the 3-Tesla-Skyra, an item which Dr. Mendelsohn called "the latest and greatest technology in MRIs."
Radiologists at Zwanger are particularly excited about the device, which, they said, is five times as strong as a stand-up MRI, 10 times as strong as an open MRI and has a wide board structure that can hold a patient up to 550 pounds.
And that all translates into speed. “Patients used to have to lie in a magnet for 45 minutes,” said Dr. Mendelsohn. “With the 3-Tesla-Skyra, it’s down to eight minutes.”
It’s a multi-million dollar instrument, and it cost several hundred thousand dollars to get the building prepped for it. But with only five of these MRIs on Long Island (all of them Zwanger affiliates), the 3-Tesla-Skyra is already proving itself to be a prize possession for the Lindenhurst office.
“It’s put us in a position of being second to nobody,” asserted Dr. Mendelsohn.
In the end the money spent on the renovation at the Lindy location of Zwanger-Pesiri featuring improved patient flow, new interior décor and new equipment was all about the patient experience.
“Compassionate, comfortable care," concluded Dr. Mendelsohn. “It’s all about the patients.”
