CBP: Cocaine Smuggled in Baking Ingredients at JFK
Woman put 13 lbs. of cocaine in powdered milk and custard bags, said Customs.
A woman faces drug smuggling charges after she brought more than $200,000 of cocaine disguised as baking ingredients into Kennedy Airport, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
On Nov. 21, K-9 Elza alerted her handler to a suspicious bag belonging to Tricia Ann D’Aguiar, of the United States, CBP announced Wednesday. D’Aguiar had just arrived at JFK from Georgetown, Guyana, officials said.
Officers found three bags of milk powder and three bags of custard powder in her luggage, CBP said. The packages emitted a strong chemical odor and tested positive for cocaine, officials said.
