Cops: 2 Employees Beaten, Tied Up in Freeport Armed Robbery

Incident happened Monday night, police said.

Two men with guns beat and tied up two employees during a Monday night robbery in Freeport, according to Nassau County Police.

At 9 p.m., two men with semiautomatic handguns entered AutoZone on Merrick Road and approached two male employees, ages 19 and 36, cops said. The duo forced the employees to the ground behind a counter and began kicking them, police said.

One employee was tied up with duct tape while the second was ordered to open a safe, police said. Afterward, the second victim was tied up with his own belt and a phone cord, cops said.

The subjects fled with an unknown amount of cash, police said.

Neither employee was reportedly injured in the robbery.

The first subject was described as a black man in his 20s, 5-foot-9, and was wearing a black ski mask, black hooded sweatshirt, black cargo pants, and black Timberland boots. He was carrying a black semi-automatic handgun with a brown handle and was wearing latex gloves, cops said.

The second subject was described as a black man in his 20s, 5-foot-9, and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, and gold and black Nike foam sneakers. He was carrying a silver semi-automatic handgun and also wore latex gloves, police said.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call Nassau County Crimes Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
