Cops: Woman Struck, Killed by Car in East Rockaway
Pedestrian struck Wednesday on Atlantic Avenue, detectives said.

A pedestrian was struck and killed by an oncoming car in East Rockaway Wednesday night, according to Nassau County Police.
Detectives said Carmel Kennedy, 60, of East Rockaway, was walking across Atlantic Avenue near Ocean Avenue at 8:05 p.m. As she crossed, she was struck by an oncoming car, driven by an unidentified 19-year-old woman, police said.
Kennedy suffered “multiple trauma injuries” in the collision and was rushed to a nearby hospital, cops said. She was pronounced dead by a staff physician soon after the accident, police said.

A brake and safety check was performed at the scene. The investigation is ongoing but detectives said there was no criminality suspected.
