Sammy, the Life and Career of Sammy Davis Jr.

He’s been called by some the world’s greatest entertainer. He sang, danced, did impressions, played several instruments, and was also a serious actor and a very good comic. In this audio visual program narrated and edited by Jack Schnur, view clips of Sammy performing from age 6 to his death at age 65. He started with his dad and uncle as part of the Will Mastin trio. Watch Sammy performing as Sportin’ Life in the 1959 film version of Porgy & Bess and singing some of his hits: “What Kind of Fool Am I”, “The Candy Man”, and “Mr. Bojangles.”
