Future Of Long Beach Staple Unknown After 'Devastating' Weekend Fire

LONG BEACH, NY — Whitbread Lumber and Sons has been part of Long Beach, longer than the city itself.

The 105-year-old business on Magnolia Boulevard suffered a "devastating" fire over the weekend, the city said on its website.

Two firefighters sustained minor injuries from battling the blaze that took 90 minutes to extinguish.

It's not clear what Whitbread's future holds.
