It's our Turn at Bat

Nobody gets out of existence alive or unscathed.

You can count on some of us going through more pain than others on this tiny blue planet. You see them confront challenge after challenge, but persevere through it all. You wonder, how do they do it?

Nothing hurts us more than the loss of a loved one.

What are we to do when our hearts are pierced with unbearable sorrow? Become debilitatingly depressed? Turn to alcohol and or drugs? Does that ever have a good ending?

Some of us take the pain and turn it into progress.

They help others. It gives them purpose and a healthy catharsis and eases the pain—just a bit.

I know of such a man, many of you know him too. He and his family were struck with such a grief that only those also so pierced can fathom.

But he had to keep going, like a shark keeps moving, to survive.

He still works hard at his job but devotes much effort to preventing others from suffering the pain he and his family have endured. He calls on the community to help him help others.

Please see how he and our community have risen to the challenge when we realize, It’s our Turn at Bat.
