Long Beach's Acting City Manager Announces Resignation
Robert Agostisi is resigning effective Oct. 1. There's no word yet on who will run the city once he's gone.

Long Beach's Acting City Manager Rob Agostisi told the City Council yesterday that he is resigning effective Oct. 1.
The city appointed Agostisi as Acting City Manager in February, taking over for Police Commissioner Michael Tangney, who had been filling in the role. The city has not had an official city manager since Jack Schnirman resigned in January 2018 to become Nassau County Comptroller.
"As per the Council Majority request, I received a copy of the separation pay agreement from Acting City Manager Robert Agostisi this afternoon," City Council President Anissa Moore wrote on Facebook. "As of 9:25p.m., the entire City Council received an email from the Acting City Manager Robert Agostisi regarding his intent to resign."

According to Newsday, Agostisi is resigning to become the chief legal officer for the LGBT Network, an LGBT advocacy group based in Hauppauge. The LGBT Network has been the organization that held the Long Island Pride Parade in Long Beach for the last three years.
“Rob has been a masterful lawyer able to navigate the difficult waters of Long Beach,” LGBT Network president David Kilmnick told Newsday. “He is a skilled attorney with a passion and heart that’s a great match for the organization.”

Agostisi was the city's corporation counsel before he took on the city manager role. He received a $30,000 raise when he took the job, but agreed to help the city with cases he was already involved in as counsel.
