LONG BEACH, NY — A Long Beach man was arraigned for the March shooting death of an Uber driver in Long Beach and a separate hit and run last September that left an elderly woman seriously hurt, Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly said.

Shaun Teemer, 23, was charged with second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, the D.A.'s release said.

Teemer pleaded not guilty. He is due back in court on Aug. 30.

"After an apparent argument, Shaun Teemer allegedly shot 37-year-old Humberto Manuel Francis-Hernandez in the head and left him for dead. Heartbreakingly, Humberto died several days later in the hospital," Donnelly said in a statement. "Just six months earlier, Teemer allegedly struck and seriously injured a 74-year-old woman leaving a supermarket and never stopped. These horrific crimes are the very definition of senseless violence, and my office is committed to ensuring accountability for the victims and their families."

Teemer's bail was set at $5,000 cash, $20,000 bond, and $50,000 partially secured bond for the hit and run case.
