The Great Neck Library is hosting three donation drives this October as part of The Great Give Back, a statewide community service initiative created by the Suffolk County Public Library Directors Association and the Suffolk Cooperative Library System, in conjunction with the Nassau Library System. The mission of The Great Give Back is to provide a day of opportunities for the patrons of the Public Libraries of New York State to participate in meaningful, service-oriented experiences. Donations are accepted at all four of our Great Neck library locations.

Feminine Hygiene Drive
Community members are invited to drop off donations of feminine hygiene products at any of our four Library locations. At the end of the month, teen volunteers will assemble these items into kits, which will be distributed across various service points within the library system for anyone in need. We are currently accepting sanitary pads, liners, tampons, menstrual cups, and discs.

Diaper and Wipe Drive
Support Long Island families this October! Bring your extra diapers and baby wipes to any of our four branches. As port of our Great Give Back programming, all donations will be given to the Allied Foundation to Help local parents in need.

Sid Jacobson JCC Community Needs Bank Hygiene Drive
We are currently accepting donations of full-sized personal hygiene items, including hand soaps, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and women’s Depends (Sizes M/L/XL). All donations will directly benefit the Sid Jacobson JCC’s Community Needs Bank, which powers a vital network of local pantries and shelters across Roslyn Heights, Great Neck/Manhasset, Old Westbury, Port Washington, and Glen Cove. Your generosity ensures that our neighbors in need have immediate access to these essential everyday items. Harp & Hound

As we begin to approach the Thanksgiving holiday season, I’m reaching out to you not only as a colleague, but as President of Islip Food for Hope and as someone who believes deeply in the power of our community taking care of one another.
This Thanksgiving, our goal is to make sure 1,300 local families can sit down together and enjoy a warm, traditional Thanksgiving dinner through our Boxes of Love program.
For many of us, Thanksgiving means gathering around a table filled with food, family, laughter, and traditions. But for far too many families in our community, putting that meal on the table is a real struggle. Food insecurity continues to impact more of our neighbors, seniors, and families than many of us realize.
That’s why this work means so much to me.
One of our favorite annual fundraisers is coming up at the Harp & Hound in Islip. It’s always a great day filled with football, great food, tons of raffles, friends, and, of course, our famous Stop the Clock Drawing!
There is no admission fee. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at your own expense, so come down, spend the day with us, watch some football, and most importantly, help us help others.
We currently have just 150 Stop the Clock tickets left to sell, and I would love the support of my colleagues in helping us sell every last one.
Purchase your Stop the Clock ticket here: You do not have to be present to Win! Purchase a Stop the Clock Ticket
You do not need to be present to win. Once you purchase your ticket, you will receive an email with your ticket number(s).
Starting at 5pm Every 15 minutes, we will draw a $500 winner, and our final drawing will be for $2,500! And here’s the best part: even if your ticket wins, it goes right back into the drawing and can win again.
Every ticket we sell brings us one step closer to filling another Box of Love and putting a Thanksgiving dinner on another family's table.
I have always believed that when our community comes together, there is very little we cannot accomplish. 1,300 families is an ambitious goal, but behind every one of those boxes is a family who deserves to know that their community cares about them.
Please consider purchasing a ticket, sharing this with your family and friends, or joining us at the Harp & Hound. Together, we can make this Thanksgiving a little warmer and a little brighter for 1,300 families.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for always supporting the communities we serve.
With gratitude,
Eddie Fraser President Islip Food for Hope, Inc.
