LI Nonprofit ACLD Encourages People to Get Active 5/1 - 5/5

Nonprofit ACLD asks friends, supporters and public to join in its initiative, #ACTIVE4ACLD Virtual Challenge, from Fri May 1 – Tues May 5

Adults and Children with Learning and Developmental Disabilities, Inc. (ACLD), which has several locations across Long Island, continues to carry out its mission, operating its Residential Program for 400 adults with autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities across Long Island. The safety and health of its residents continues to be its priority, as this program remains staffed 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. However, it needs the community’s help to continue its vital work during this crisis.

ACLD wants to get people moving and active while supporting its mission. It is asking its friends, supporters and the public at large to join in its initiative, #ACTIVE4, ACLD Virtual Challenge, from Friday May 1 – Tuesday May 5, 2020, which anyone is encouraged to participate in as a way for getting physically active while supporting ACLD and the important services it provides for adults and children with disabilities.

To take part, just engage in some kind of physical activity. Any type of activity counts – running, at home exercises, dancing, going for a stroll around the block with your family, etc. People can post to social media photos of them engaging in their physical activity using the hashtags #ACTIVE4ACLD and #ACLDStrong. Donations made to this initiative will help with the changing needs that arise as result of this pandemic. If you are unable to make a donation at this time, you can still help raise awareness for ACLD’s through the posts of pictures of your physical activities. For more information or to make a donation visit https://www.acld.org/active4acld/.
