A Memorial of Hope, Healing, and Remembrance on National Batman Day
On National Batman Day, the Cassata Foundation was honored to help dedicate a moving new memorial to the victims of substance abuse at Tanner Park in Copiague.
Working alongside the Supervisor Rich Schaffer of the Town of Babylon, the Town of Oyster Bay, and Steps for Hope and Healing, the Foundation remains committed to prevention, education, and advocacy—bringing Long Island communities together to promote safety, offer support, and help families affected by addiction and overdose.

The memorial was unveiled in honor of residents lost to drug overdoses. It offers families a peaceful place to remember, reflect, and find comfort in the enduring love they hold for those they have lost.
Rosario S. Cassata, President of the Cassata Foundation, generously donated the memorial signage and brick pavers to line the entrance to the memorial.

Each paver will be engraved, free of charge, with the name of a loved one, creating a lasting tribute for families and a powerful reminder that no one is forgotten.
Among those honoring loved ones was a little boy who lost his uncle and wore a Batman shirt in his memory. A mother who lost her son shared a photograph of him wearing his favorite Batman hat, remembering how much he loved his favorite superhero.
Rosario said “All these deeply personal connections to Batman was sign today to bring us together today and that it was on National Batman Day.”
At the entrance to the memorial, The Foundation will install a bronze plaque welcoming visitors with these words: “These pavers are in memory of those we have lost, whose memories have paved the way for hope, healing, and change.”
The Cassata Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people in need throughout New York and Florida.
Guided by its motto, “Being a Batman,” the Foundation gives back to its communities without expecting anything in return.
This memorial will stand as a promise to every family that their loved ones will be remembered, their stories matter, and together help build a future filled with hope.
“This memorial is a beautiful sign of what can happen when a community comes together,” Rosario said.
