Paws of War Car Show Raises Over $30,000 for Veterans and Rescue Dogs in Record-Breaking Event

Paws of War recently hosted its fourth annual Car Show at the organization’s Nesconset headquarters, which drew more than 300 vehicles and over a thousand attendees. The record-breaking event raised over $30,000 to support the nonprofit’s mission of “Helping Both Ends of the Leash.” The annual event, which has become one of Long Island’s most patriotic community traditions, brought together veterans, first responders, families, automobile enthusiasts and dog lovers for a day dedicated to honoring those who have served our nation.

The dog-friendly gathering featured vintage, classic, and custom vehicles, military displays, live music, raffles, food trucks, and family-friendly activities, all united by a shared commitment to supporting local heroes.

Funds raised will directly support Paws of War’s programs, including service dog training for disabled veterans and first responders coping with PTSD, traumatic injuries, and other service-related challenges; animal rescue operations; veteran and first responder assistance; and the War-Torn Pups and Cats program, which reunites U.S. service members with animals they rescued while deployed overseas.

Proceeds will help provide a service dog to a veteran or first responder with PTSD. The car show’s judging and awards program was hosted by the Fabulous 50’s and 60’s Nostalgia Car Club.

“This event is about much more than cars. It is about honoring the people who have defended and protected our communities while recognizing the incredible role service dogs play in helping veterans and first responders heal,” said Ray Meyer, Paws of War volunteer and event organizer. “The car community has really embraced this mission, and as America celebrates its 250th birthday, people came together to celebrate our country, enjoy an incredible display of vehicles, and support programs that truly change lives.”

Paws of War is a Long Island-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting veterans and first responders while rescuing and training animals in need. The organization is known nationally for bringing rescued dogs and cats home from war zones, providing service dogs to veterans, and carrying out emergency animal rescue missions throughout the United States and overseas.
