Aluska is the sister-in-law of Diane Aluska, the Lindenhurst mother who died after being struck by a car on Wellwood Avenue in May. Diane Aluska was credited with saving her daughter's life when a Toyota Corolla drove onto the sidewalk near the Lindenhurst Fire Department. In 2015, Pauline Aluska's brother, 61-year-old John Aluska, was killed in a hit-and-run crash a block away from where his sister was killed.
