DMV Ditches Eye Exam Requirement for Drivers - [Poll]
Drivers in New York no longer required to pass vision test to renew license.

As if the open roads weren't already a danger zone full of distracted drivers who text, eat and even apply make-up while behind the wheel, now New Yorkers can add seeing-impaired motorists to the list of hazards.
The Department of Motor Vehicles is no longer requiring drivers to take an eye exam in order to renew their licenses, Newsday reported Friday.
Under the new rule, which took effect Wednesday, drivers can "self-certify" that they have atleast 20/40 vision. Its goal is to streamline services offered at the DMV and cut down on lines, but traffic-safety advocates, doctors and politicians oppose the change.
