Lynbrook Man Pleads Guilty to Stealing Cash, Air Conditioners
Man pleaded guilty in October to taking money from Hurricane Sandy victims but performing no work, the DA said.

A Lynbrook man pleaded guilty Thursday to charges that he stole money and air conditioning units from a property management company, according to the Nassau County District Attorney’s office.
Rodrigo Leiton, 51, of Lynbrook, pleaded guilty to two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and two counts of petit larceny in front of Judge Erica Prager, the DA said. He was ordered to pay $12,000 upfront to both of his victims at his sentencing, set for Feb. 26, 2015, the DA said.
Leiton also pleaded guilty in October to third-degree grand larceny for stealing from Nassau homeowners in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. According to the DA, Leiton promised to fix roofs and other reconstruction work for Sandy victims in Franklin Square, Merrick, East Rockaway, and Valley Stream. He was paid thousands for the work but never completed any of it, officials said.
