West Hempstead BOE Continues Discussion on Bond Referendum

Workshop set for Jan. 6.

On Tuesday, Jan. 6, during the West Hempstead Board of Education workshop meeting starting at 7:30 p.m. in West Hempstead High School’s video conference room, the Board of Education will continue to discuss the scope of work for a potential Capital Project Bond Referendum to address the district’s major building infrastructure needs and to provide students with a 21st century learning environment.

On Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, during the Board of Education meeting, a detailed presentation was discussed outlining several options for the proposed scope of work and the funding options for these projects, including proposing a Capital Project Bond Referendum to the community. All work discussed focused on areas of health, safety and security, ADA compliance, space needs for proper classroom instruction and support services, preventive maintenance, energy efficiency and technology upgrades. Following the presentation, residents in attendance had the opportunity to ask questions.

The Board of Education plans to continue these discussions at the Jan. 6, 2015 workshop meeting. All community residents are invited and encouraged to attend.
