Accidental Shooting in North Massapequa

Man injured by gun discharge.

A  gun accidentally discharged in a North Massapequa home Wednesday night wounding a friend of the weapon owner, police said.

The incident happened at about 11:30 p.m inside a house near the intersection of Broadway and North Hickory Street.

It wasn't immediately clear, where the bullet struck the injured man, who's in his early 20s, but he was taken to a local hospital and was in stable condition. His injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

Police said the gun owner was a civilian with a valid license who was not charged.
