An Admission

I have been reprimanded, and rightfully so by two people who care about me.

One is my forever friend, Joan, and the other, Jim, who has been by my side with loving care and unfailing support for six decades.

As I have said in the past, I love words, and unfortunately, I am reluctant to abandon them unnecessarily.

In this instance, however, I realize I must be more alert to changing times.

I used a word that I chose to believe had the original meaning.

Patriot is interpreted by a dictionary as :

“A person who vigorously supports their country and is prepared to defend it against enemies or detractors.”

I did not give credence to the reality that sadly, January 6, 2021 damaged the meaning forever.

I have learned a lesson and I have eliminated the word not only from my vocabulary, but also from the article I published.

I am also quite sad that it no longer has the meaning I intended and cherished.
