An Amazing

When he first came into our lives, it was indeed a first and unexpected addition,

I had not encountered the descriptive word applied to this new arrival in our family history,

However, within the year browsing through the TV channels I heard the term once again applied to one of the main characters in a popular TV series,

Almost instantly, the infant became devoted to his Grandfather, who embraced him with total confidence and loving comfort.

Time went on and so did our lives. We all grew, some in wisdom, others in frailty and those we loved aged and changed.

Shortly after we both mourned the one who had been my Anam Cara, Lover, Husband and of course, his Grandfather, slowly our relationship altered.

Without rhyme or reason, he adopted me and quietly eased my pain of loss.

I was totally unaware of the gifts God would allow him to bring into my life.

The absolute joy in life, both in the mundane and the magnificent that are uniquely his, have touched my own outlook which tended toward the negative.

His utter thirst of knowledge has kept me from flowing back into the silent swathe of comforting yesterdays. His quest for answers has provided a challenge for my own inquiries and I welcome the test.

And the unexpected pleasure he finds in my elderly company is a total surprise and of course, an utter joy.

We were both surprises in the other’s life.

Occasionally, when those who don’t know us register curiosity or inquiry, I wish they, too, could comprehend what life has taught me,

God’s wisdom is amazing and explains why He makes each of us to be different and become blessings to others.

That is what, my Grandson, my friend and my teacher, Will, has been for me.
