Awarding Cab Franchises in Massapequa Park

The Village of Massapequa Park recently held a public hearing on a plan to extend the length of their taxi contract.

The current pact with Long Island Checker Cab is for a year and a proposed change to the village code would lengthen it to three years.   At one time the franchise lasted for four years.

We want to know what you think about the plan. Do you like the idea of a long-term contract which can lock in the rates you pay, or would a yearly competitive bid  keep prices down more.
