Bathing Advisory Issued For South Shore Beaches
Heavy rainfall could have caused elevated bacteria in the water, making it unsafe for swimming, officials say.

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — Due to last night's rainfall, the Nassau County Department of Health has issued a bathing advisory for four South Shore beaches.
The beaches are known to be affected by stormwater runoff that heavy rainfall causes. The stormwater can elevate bacterial levels in the water, making it unsafe for swimming.

- Island Park Beach – Island Park
- Hewlett Point Beach – East Rockaway
- Philip Healey Beach – Massapequa
- Biltmore Beach - Massapequa
The advisory is in effect at all of these beaches until 7 a.m. on Saturday. It could be extended if there is more heavy rainfall.
