No matter how careful, we are, life invariably throws us a curve.
It is part of life and particularly devastating when it involves a loved one. I don’t know anyone who has not survived trauma of some sort.
So at this juncture of a long road, so have I. However, this recent incident was rather different. It wasn’t caused by love, or accident, but by misinformation.

And I must emphasize, there was no one to blame including myself.
I have always been rigid to a negative degree. Living in a senior resident I have been close to fanatical about observing the latest CDC guidelines. When I explain that it has been fifteen months since I have had a haircut, possibly you will understand the degree of my self imposed isolation.

Therefore, it was both traumatic and confusing when I tested positive for Covid early in January. I was also blessed to be virtually asymptomatic and with prudent medical advice received the first vaccine fifteen days later. My adverse reaction was not unexpected, but dissipated three days after onset.
Medical advice changed shortly afterwards, advising recovering Covid patients to wait 90 days before receiving the vaccine.
However, again with then current CDC approval, I had received my second immunization three weeks later. That evening more new CDC guidelines were released stating that only one dose of vaccine was appropriate. Obviously, I became quite ill, and now ten days later am finally feeling somewhat improved.
I believe no matter how careful; how educated; how alert we are, there is still much to learn about this unknown health issue. I know I have learned another lesson. I will neither apologize or provide an explanation for being rigid in observing ongoing CDC guidelines as they emerge during this time of crisis.
Our country has been engaged in combat with an invisible enemy. It has not disappeared as yet.
The battle is still ongoing.
