Cablevision Burglar Caught

Police: Serial burglar dressed as cable employee hit home in Massapequa.

A Wantagh man  has been charged with committing multiple burglaries while he was wearing a Cablevision uniform.

Evan Schantz, 26, is accused of ten home thefts including one in Massapequa on July 30.

He also struck in Wantagh, Levittown, Seaford and Syosset, according to police.

Schantz was arrested at his home on Tuesday night and charged with second-degree burglary. Detectives said Schantz entered unlocked windows of corner houses while wearing the uniform and stealing jewelry from the homes.

The other burglaries in Wantagh occurred on July 22, August 13 and August 31 while the thefts of Levittown homes took place on July 27, August 5 and August 31, cops said.  He also allegedly broke into homes in in Seaford on July 31 and Syosset on August 20.
