I finally understand why the Queen wanted another Corgi. At first I was confused. After all, doesn’t she have five or is it seven?
She needed another one because the others weren't able to bark loud enough to drown out all the conversation currently focused on her eventual departure from this earth.
We have absolutely not a thing in common, the Queen and I; other than the fact she and my husband shared the same birthday. Sadly, he no longer celebrates it; nor did he ever have an annual parade complete with horses, and marching bands along with all the other festivities she has enjoyed throughout her lifetime.. However, the devils food cake topped a vanilla cream cheese icing that I baked annually always made him quite happy. Also, the four youngsters around the table singing Happy Birthday in unison were far superior to any choir in his opinion.

Still I feel sympathy for the Monarch, despite the fact I recently read she owns even more than fifteen tiaras.
She has my total sympathy because I haven’t read any news from Great Britain in the last six months that didn't include some item concerning potential plans for the famous lady’s demise along with speculation about her successor.

Oh, she definitely needed another Corgi. To be totally honest, I believe she deserved more than one.
I am confident the dogs never ask her how she is feeling.
I am certain none of them inquire if she prefers Charles or William.
I even doubt if they have ever mentioned Camilla.
No, they merely nip at her feet, run in circles as she walks and never wink at each other if she stumbles on occasion, as most of us do these days.
While I am aware the royal lady is older than I, it is not by decades. And I must confess I am currently intimidated if anyone inquires too often about my health, or raises their eyebrows, if I am not absolutely precise in a recollection.
I am blessed, however, because I do not have a legion of professional viewers recording my every sneeze, afternoon nod or even any of my frequent moments of meditation.
Indeed, the elderly lady has had an enchanted life and enjoyed luxury well beyond my scope of imagination. She has also experienced pomp and ceremony that I could not ever precisely describe. However, yes, she has been blessed with four children, and that is something we do have in common.. Yet none of mine are waiting in the wings for me to fly away. Of course, there is no castle or crown to inherit either. And at the moment, no one has written a story mentioning my age and potential demise, and what will occur when the winds of eternity enfold me in its inevitable embrace.
Therefore, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind. The Queen not only needed, but was entitled to own another Corgi. I hope it barks loudly, constantly and shuts out all the noise around her. She deserved better, even if she does own more than fifteen tiaras. Sometimes they must seem quite heavy on her head.
