Elements

Earth, water, fire, and air are the elements of matter, and they reconfigure and recycle themselves into everything seen and unseen.

These orchestrations of nature, along with man, fulfill the Lord’s Will, sometimes in the most unlikely manner.

They are predominantly accomplished with plausible hypotheses or scientific explanations.

Then there are moments when man’s grasp cannot comprehend what is occurring.

Pentecost is one of those experiences.

Jesus had promised the Apostles that the Holy Spirit would descend upon them and touch them profoundly, but there was no manual, no road map, no dates, no specifics, only the foretelling.

As with many Biblical circumstances, the Holy Spirit was a mighty force of nature that blew into town combining driving winds (air) and scorching fire.

Although frightened at first, the Apostles succumbed and bore the fruits of the Holy Spirit – wisdom, prophesying, proclaiming the wonders of God, and the gift of tongues to teach of Jesus and signifying the worldwide mission of this new covenant and church.

It was a grandiose display to alert the villagers that God was present, and had plenty to say.

The Eternal One had already utilized water to cleanse and erase with Noah.

Pentecostal purging, on the other hand, would harm no one, and prove to be unadulterated profundity and enlightenment.

Rushing winds clear debris and stagnant air, revealing what lies beneath, and freshening space and situations.

The Holy Spirit recharges and realigns with His endowments, removing the unnecessary, and setting steadfast foundations for novel material and knowledge while propelling the old to transcendence.

Fire symbolized the Lord at Mount Sinai as spectacular flames, where He also ignited His Commandments, and unfolded His covenant with mankind.

Fifty days after Easter, Pentecost boldly and triumphantly heralded the beginning of the Christian church and God’s fulfillment of His promise of the cherished Holy Spirit.

The physical elements of life coddle all of humanity filling each with air- the breath of life.

While the invisibility of the Lord’s ethereal spirit animates His faithful and claims each as His own. How will you portray His ownership?
