Grand Opening Celebration of Long Island's First Swirls and Twirls Self-Serve Frozen Yogurt Shop in Massapequa Park

Swirls and Twirls self-serve frozen yogurt shop, featuring 16 flavors and 43 toppings, announces the grand opening celebration of its first location at 5270 Sunrise Highway in the Sunrise Promenade (TGIF Shopping Center), on Saturday, June 11, 2011 from 11 a.m. –12 midnight.

Swirls and Twirls owner Joe Sala, a member of the Massapequa Chamber of Commerce, invites the public to stop by to savor what he calls "the ultimate healthy indulgence" on grand opening day for half-price.  In celebration of this special occasion, fifty percent of all proceeds will be donated to CASK, the Creative Art Space for Kids Foundation.

There will be free raffles throughout the day, and two lucky people will win free yogurt for a year.

The 1,500 square-foot Swirls and Twirls setting features a vibrant and unique interior, striking architectural lighting, music from a state-of-the-art sound system and free Wi-Fi.  It has eight dual yogurt dispensers each with a third handle allowing customers to create a twisted flavor.  All 16 premium yogurt flavors are kosher and include gluten-free, non-fat, low-fat, no sugar added, dairy-free varieties, and are as low as 70 calories per ½ cup serving.  The topping stations contain seven wet, nine fruit and 27 dry toppings.

"We designed Swirls and Twirls to encourage folks to have fun and get creative," says Sala, "With all these delectable options, there are endless combination possibilities to create your own healthy treat; your only limit is your imagination!"

After swirling up their own creations – all spoons, cups and napkins are made from recycled materials - yogurt fans move to a weigh-in station where the fee for their treat is 49 cents an ounce. On opening day only, that price will be 25 cents an ounce.  Tables and chairs and a wrap-around couch offer seating that encourages customers to gather and enjoy Swirls and Twirls yogurt in a friendly atmosphere.

Two on-site touch screens are available for customers.  One provides easy access to ingredient, nutrition and allergy information at the touch of a finger.  The second screen allows users to sign up for a loyalty program to earn free yogurt.  Once signed up, customers’ points are automatically tract directly to their cell phones.  Sign-up for the program earns awards points toward a free Swirls and Twirls yogurt, as well as other items.

The Massapequa Park location is the first of five Swirls and Twirls to be opened on the south shore of Long Island this year.  Hours are Sunday-Thursday 11am –11pm and Friday- Saturday 11am-Midnight.
